Thalya is an enthusiastic environmentalist from New Jersey with a passion for sustainable food. She has a B.A. in Environmental Studies from Rowan University where she minored in Geographic Information Science and Geography. Thalya worked on campus at the Rowan Rec Center and interned as a Tree Data Collector with the Rowan Geospatial Research Lab. Thalya, or Tilly as she is sometimes called, joined AmeriCorps as the 2013-2014 NJ Department of Environmental Protection (NJDEP) Watershed Ambassador for Watershed Management Area 3; she served at the Passaic County Planning Department. During her year of service, Thalya gave educational presentations, conducted visual and biological stream assessments, and held numerous cleanups in WMA 3.

Thalya is thrilled to continue her service in New Jersey as the FoodCorps member for the New Brunswick Community Farmers Market and Rutgers Cooperative Extension. She will engage youth in charter and public schools; assist in nutrition outreach at the weekly farmers market; collaborate with local stakeholder groups; and tend to community, school, and children's gardens throughout the city. Thalya loves playing ultimate frisbee, snowboarding, working in the field (streams and farms), and exploring!

Keep up with Tilly on her blog!
